Decorating Your Front Porch for Fall

Decorating front porches and patios has to be one of our favorite projects! With the warmer weather behind us and fall in full swing, we've put together a list of our top tricks for sprucing up the exterior of your home. Check out these fun ideas below and happy decorating!

Incorporate Fall Accents in Your Flower Pots

No need to completely remove your summer pots! If your pots have a variety of greens, simply remove the perennial summer blooms and replace with fall accents like gourds and pumpkins.

Add Fall Mums for a Big Impact

Mums are an extremely cost effective way to bring some big pops of fall color to your front porch or patio. Spread them around your steps or by the front door and pair/group with other fall accents like lanterns, pumpkins, hay bales, and corn stalks.

Hang A Seasonal Wreath

We love a warm welcome! Wreaths are our favorite soft touch to use when decorating front porches. Whether your style is more traditional or modern, we recommend using vibrant colors that will make your front door stand out from the street.

Make a Fall Sign

Sure you can easily purchase a fall sign at Hobby Lobby or other home decor stores, but why not make your own?!Grab a board in the size you want at your local home improvement store then gather together stain, paint, and stencil materials. We recommend staining first, painting, and then distressing the board (if you’d like!) with sandpaper. Trace your desired word or saying with stencils, then fill in the letters with craft paint. After the sign is dry, make sure to add a coat of polyurethane to protect it against outside elements. Voila! You have a custom sign for your front porch!

FunTip: You can use the other side of the board for another holiday like Christmas, Easter, or 4th of July!
